This week is National Nurses Week, and Planned Parenthood is saying “thank you” to the compassionate and skilled nurses who work every day to keep the women, men, and young people in their communities healthy.
When registered nurse Alyssa Dominguez needed care, she traveled more than an hour to get to Planned Parenthood. The Imperial Valley native said she valued the care and privacy from Planned Parenthood providers so much, that she was happy to drive to the nearest center for care.
Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest’s Latina Leadership Academy just celebrated its first graduating class! Thanks to the generous support of The California Endowment, the academy is now one of the Coachella Valley’s most innovative and forward-thinking youth leadership programs, training the next generation of reproductive justice advocates with an intensive 15-month curriculum.

Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest has been promoting comprehensive reproductive health education among immigrant communities in Riverside County and Imperial Valley with the help of Promotor@s for more than 20 years, with tremendous results.
I am so excited to share that our first health center in the Imperial Valley has opened! Finally opening our doors is a tremendous victory for the women and families in this region. Not to mention, it is a huge advancement in our mission: to provide the community with the reproductive health care they want and need.
We launched a social media campaign to support our new health center in Imperial Valley that opened this spring. Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest has worked long and hard to expand access to reproductive health care services in this region, but we continue to face vocal opposition.
